Health & Safety

All of these factors poses a significant risk to the health and safety of members of the local community.  We strongly oppose of this proposed location due to the fact:

Breaking & Entering & Burglary- Homeless man drawn to community by Asbury Church:

The above picture was captured at the crime scene on 3/10/23.  The below comments are from the homeowner on a Nextdoor feed here.

***Update 3/13: Asbury Church has confirmed this man was at their facility on 3/4/23. They will not confirm or deny if he has received their homeless outreach services. They also shared they know he is a Livermore resident, which Livermore Police just confirmed is inaccurate. This man is an unhoused transient and not a Livermore resident. Here is an example of the support that residents and community members will receive from Asbury church if the Tiny Home proposal proceeds. Blocking of information critical to our safety.***

At 3pm on Friday March 10th, I entered our garage on Almond Circle to find a homeless man passed out on the floor. When police arrived the man told LPD that he was sent from Asbury Methodist Church to look for work after receiving their services. The man had vandalized our garage. He urinated multiple times causing damage to several thousand dollars of our property. He stole some of our personal belongings. He was arrested and became verbally aggressive with police and my husband. After notifying our neighbors we then learned that the man had been stalking our neighbors' homes through their windows for several hours prior to entering our garage at 1 am. He was seen on security camera watching a family with small children eat dinner at their dining room table. He was also seen trying to open the doors of several gates and exterior home doors.

I don't know how anyone cannot see that the homeless outreach services offered by Asbury have had a negative impact on the surrounding community. This is not the first incident experienced by our neighborhood related to homeless criminals drawn by the church. Their efforts to propose a tiny home village for 16 homeless and possibly addicted individuals, who are not required to abstain from drugs or alcohol, will be a direct threat to the safety of surrounding neighbors and schools.

Our physical property can be replaced, but I wonder how long until, or if I will ever, feel safe again in my own home.

Please help to stop the tiny homes proposed to be built at Asbury United Methodist Church. They are unable to even manage their homeless outreach day services. My safety, my family’s safety and my neighbors safety is at risk.
